HCL Delinting is completed in much the same way as Sulfuric Acid Delinting. The difference is in the acid application. In preparation for the introduction of acid, Fuzzy Seed is dried and warmed in the dryer then fed into the delinting drum. The drum is sealed as dry HCL Gas is injected under pressure. When the reaction is complete, the acidized seed is transferred to a series of Buffing Drums where the lint is scrubbed from the seed.

Dry HCL Gas is transported in high pressure storage tanks. All piping and flow controls must be compatible with the corrosive high pressure gas.  As with handling any acid product, personal safety equipment is recommended.
